My creative process centers around the relationship of color and shape in a given space. I attack each painting as if it were a mystery, a problem to be solved. My intention is to create a flow and harmony that invites the viewer to explore what is presented in the abstract and find commonality with the subject matter, in other words, to reconcile the the subject and the abstraction of it. The subject matter can include things as basic as simple geometric shapes or as complex as the human figure. Working intuitively, I use bold, vibrant, sometimes clashing colors to enhance and define the images, create movement, and invite the viewer to explore.
